Holywell Quickie

Having lots of chores building up i decided a quick visit to Holywell was in order this morning.

The Pond was very quiet. There were numerous Tufted Ducks, a Female Goosander, Cormarants x2, A drake and female Gadwall and a proud Mallard mother with her ducklings

The Mallard had eight chicks though it was reported yesterday as nine. So it looks like maybe ones bit the dust already.

Over on the North side of the pond there was a large number of Passerines. With about thirty Swallows, ten House Martins (year Tick) and a few Sand Martins.

The feeders had the usual Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Blackbird and a few Reed Buntings . And over on the other side Willow warbler, Black Cap and Chiffchaff could be heard.

On the paths back to the car there were signs of summer flowers starting to bloom. Got this lovely little plant Red Dead Nettle

Canny morning out again, now to tackle the ironing mountain.
